Description
We are seeking a Fabrication Director to join our team. This position oversees & leads fabrication division. Core responsibilities center on advancing business growth and overseeing the development of the fabrication business. Secondary duties include estimation, project management, and shop floor management.

Essential Duties, Responsibilities, Functions

Division Leadership:

  • Oversees & establishes divisional strategic direction and development for continuous and sustainable growth.
  • Understands, develops, and is responsible for all financial goals & objectives reporting to appropriate directors.
  • Drive marketing & sales, build & maintain customer relations.
  • Create risk management plan, implement, & monitor.
  • Develops, trains, and reinforces policy & procedures to ensure division is functional & efficient.
  • Ensures that products meet customer specification and quality expectations.
  • Monitors material price indexes, makes necessary adjustments to prevent price escalation.
  • Collaborate closely with shop floor manager. Ensure cohesiveness between project team and shop floor.
  • Seek and establish vendor relationships for best pricing, product quality, and delivery.
  • Ongoing review of fabrication department to identify and implement improvement in safety and operation efficiencies.

Fabrication Management:

  • Monitors fabricator and drafter workloads to identify project needs.
  • Ensures fabrication department stays on schedule and within budget.
  • Writes welding procedures, acquires welding certificates, and arranges necessary certified training.
  • Establishes quality control procedures and monitors.
  • Assist in analyzing, resolving, & reporting on cost history code variances.
  • Coordinate activities to support internal (SCC) customers and outside customers.
  • Analyze requirements and make recommendations for fab shop systems, processes, training, and equipment needs.
  • Ensure shop protocols, procedures, and safety practices are adhered to.
  • Recognizes areas of concern and reports to Production Director.

  • Seek and establish vendor relationships for best pricing, product quality, and delivery.
  • Ongoing review of fabrication department to identify and implement improvement in safety and operation efficiencies

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional degree ideally in business, construction, and/or engineering background.
  • 2+ years in process piping construction.
  • Previous construction or fabrication project management desired.
  • General knowledge of costing and finishes for C.S and S.S.
  • Construction field experience or the desire to acquire internally as necessary to meet performance expectations.
  • Experience or ability to acquire training with the following software systems or equivalents: All Microsoft products, Bluebeam, Trimble Accubid Estimating, InEight Hard Dollar Estimating, P6 Critical Path Scheduler, Viewpoint, Inventor, AutoCAD Revit 3D, Hilti Profis Anchor Engineering.
  • OSHA safety training completion or ability to acquire.
  • Valid and clean driving record.

  • Technical knowledge & layout of piping system, process mechanical equipment, structural supporting assemblies, and general understanding of electrical/instrumentation systems.
  • Follow policies, guidelines, & procedures as established by the organization

Certificates & Licenses

  • OSHA 30, Confined Space, First Aid, CPR
  • Water or Waster Water Operator License (Desired but not required)
  • Dale Carnegie (Desired or willing to obtain)
  • AGC Leadership (Desired or willing to obtain)
  • AGC Project Manager Development (Desired or willing to obtain)

Work Hours

  • Monday thru Friday or as needed to satisfy internal & external customers.
