Position Summary

Civil Engineering Technician would complete Installation of underground utilities, interior process piping, & process equipment. Equipment utilization of survey/GPS, pipe welding & threading, earthwork & trenching, and hoisting & rigging.

Essential Duties, Responsibilities, Functions

  • Site layout and installation of underground pipe & utilities related to sanitary & storm sewer systems.
  • Assist with earthwork related items for trenching, excavating, earth retention and dewatering systems with use of survey & GPS equipment establishing line, grade, & elevation.
  • Layout and installation of interior process piping consisting of all pipe material types. (Welding, Flange, Fusion, Solder, Threaded).
  • Treatment & process plant equipment installation.
  • Read & interpret blue-print drawings and project specifications.
  • Maintain accurate as-built drawings for record of all systems installed.
  • Rigging and signaling (crane/excavator communications).
  • Perform other construction duties as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma, apprenticeship, Associated Technical Degree, or equivalent.

  • Basic civil engineering technician concepts & practices in soil classification, hydraulics principles, static loads, civil construction layout, drafting, design, & survey skills.
  • Drafting practices Civil & Revit 3D
  • Proficient with survey, GPS, transit, & laser level equipment.
  • Critical mathematical computation.
  • Construction on-site estimating & contract document interpretation.
  • Knowledge of pipelaying/fitting and plumbing of process, sanitary & storm water systems.
  • Understanding of process equipment operational functions.
  • Welding (beneficial).
  • Crane/excavator signaling.

Performance Skills

  • At times work in an undesirable environment inside & outside and ability to manage the elements.
  • Climbing stairs, scaffolding, ladders, earthen banks, uneven or slippery terrain.
  • Entering elevated platforms and confined space environments. Use of respirator as needed meeting OSHA requirements, corporate safety program, & personal safety.
  • Lifting necessary equipment & materials up to +/-100 lbs.
  • Performs all work tasks in a proper and safe manner following established policies, general safety rules, and safe operating procedures.
  • Skill set to properly assemble all types of piping assemblies according to manufactures installation requirements.
  • Able & willing at critical times to work additional nights & weekends to meeting internal & external customer expectations.
  • Ability to travel up to 300 miles and stay overnight 3-4 days per week.

Certificates & Licenses

  • OSHA 30, Confined Space, First Aid, CPR

Work Hours

  • Monday thru Thursday or as needed to satisfy internal & external customers.
